One of the user is trying to create a subtask under a
Task. The user is assigned as Project Manager. Why
the "Make the new task a subtask of:" is disabled ?

How do I fix this problem ?

Thanks

Hi Johnny,
I suspect the view has been sorted.
Go to Project, Sort, Sort by ID.
Now it should work.

No, he is not in View mode, he wants to insert a subtask
under a Task. For exampla: if you highlight any task and
click on the left column the "Create a new task". The next
page you will see "Create a new task" Page. Under What
outline level to you want to create the new task in ?
You have two options here:
"Create the new task at the top outline level"
and
"Make the new task a subtask of:"
My problem is this one is disabled. I cannot insert a
subtask under a task.

I can't find the display you are referencing. What version of Project are
you using?

(a) I add new tasks this way:

1. Click on any cell in a task just below where I want my new task.
2. Press the Insert key.

(b) I indent/outdent tasks this way:

1. I make certain the Formatting toolbar is displayed.
2. I click on any cell in the task I want to indent or outdent.
3. I click on the appropriate button on the Formatting toolbar.

If I want to insert an indented task I do step (a) and then step (b).

Try the steps I have described and let the group know what happens.

It sounds to me like he's trying to propose a new task in PWA, not
create a new task in the Project client itself.

I am sorry, I forgot to mention that I am using the PWA.
Most of client stations are using project web access to
upgrade their projects.
