Will Project2007 show notification of where/which tasks over-lap by
highlighting the task list, or by some other obvious means other than having
to search through the gantt chart ?

Hi Akm,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

If you build your project with logical links between tasks, they cannot
overlap unless you dictate some lead time. However, when you have assigned
resources, then Project will show you any overlap of resources and will
allow you to select levelling to remove those overlaps.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Do you mean tasks which overlap because there is a predecessor link between
them with FS + negative lag, SS + positive lag etc, or tasks which overlap
because they are on different paths? Lag is easy to find with filters.
The other kind is easy to find also. This is a fairly clumsy way but works.
Just assign a dummy resource to every task and anywhere it is overallocated
there is overlap and it shows up in the indicators column of the Gantt
Chart.
