Discussion:
Can't Change Row Height

Hello All,

Looking for assistance in chaning row heights in a Gantt Chart view. I have
tried selecting individual rows and selecting all rows and then dragging the
bottom margin of the row to reduce the size but the effect does not occur. I
have also gone to View|Table|More Tables and attempted to edit here. But all
my rows show a "1" row height value. The rows will change if I increase the
row height to a "2" or more value.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Larry,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The minimum row height is goverened by the font size and the information
included above and below the Gantt bars. To check the font size, select all
the tasks and Format/Font and change the font to a small size. If that
doesn't reduce the row size, then you need to look at the Gantt bars. Check
Format/Bars Styles/Text and ensure there are no fields showing above or
below the bars. You could also try to select all tasks and check Format/Bar
for the same.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Mike,

Thank you for the direction. I had field values above my summary tasks but
was not able to remove all with one set of formatting steps. However, your
suggestion made me review the formatting and I recreated the Gantt Bars to a
basic non-field display and then reapply the field values I wanted.

End result - I was able to control row heights and display as desired.

Thanks!

Thanks Mike, but still no good. All my other projects print
correctly, it's only this one that is the problem. I've also copied
In normal gantt view (with say, entry table) the row heights are
normal, but the preview (prior to printing) displays the rows twice
as high!! Font size is normal (I use 8pt), but there is white space
below the text in each row of the table section (I have no wrapped
text). Likewise, the bars take up less than half of the row height
and are positioned in the top half of the row.
I've been though all of the set-up options from the preview/print
screen MANY times. If I copy and paste the tasks to a new project the
printed row heights are fine, but to re-enter all the project details
would be huge (calendars, resources, etc).
Can you think of anything else I may be overlooking?

Hi Pete,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I think I would try re-building the project. You could try the Gantt Chart
view, select all the tasks and copy them to a new project. Then repeat for
resources from the Resource Sheet view. Calendars, etc can be copied via
the Organizer.

You might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, particularly #32 on the Organizer, at this site:

http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMFrame.asp?CMD=ArticleSearch&AUTH=23
(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

If it helps, you could zip up a copy of the project and send it to me to
have a look at.
